Star Trek: The not quite omnipotent Q

Spoiler-Alert!

This article contains mild spoilers for almost all Star Trek episodes in which Q appears. These include: "Encounter at Farpoint" (TNG S01E01 and E02), "Hide and Q" (TNG S01E10), "Déjà Q" (TNG S03E13), "Tapestry" (TNG S06E15), "Death Wish" (VOY S02E18), "The Q and the Grey" (VOY S03E11) and "Q2" (VOY S07E19).

Q may be popular with the viewers of the late 20th and early 21st century, but for Jean-Luc Picard and Catherine Janeway and everyone on board the Enterprise and Voyager, he is more of a nuisance - and a very dangerous one at that. Q loves chaos and very rarely reveals his intentions, but that's not even the main problem: Q possesses an extraordinary power that makes him seem almost like a god. But in the end, even he is not omnipotent, as already mentioned in the article "Star Trek: How the encounter at Farpoint changed the fate of humankind". At this point, however, I would like to go into this in more detail.

Denethor or Aragorn

Spoiler-Alert!

This article contains spoilers about The Lord of the Rings, especially the third part.

At a conference I attended some time ago, all participants were asked to draw up a picture of the future of the church. Looking back on the conference, whose title was "Women's Power and Men's Power. Potentials and Obstacles of Equal Participation in the Catholic Church" and many other current challenges in the Church and the world, I came up with an image that describes not so much the future as the current situation in which we find ourselves if the future described by other participants is to come to pass.

Star Wars: Soldiers without identity

White armor, closed helmets, dark viewing windows that do not allow you to see inside. Only sometimes different colors, different designs or small "decorations". Stormtroopers and clone troopers are powerful soldiers and important tools in the galactic wars of the Star Wars world. But they are also anonymous. Who is under the armor is not visible from the outside. Certain features of the armor allow at most conclusions that it is a commander or a special unit.

Star Wars: The issue with Anakin’s Jedi-Ghost

Spoiler-Alert!

This article contains heavy spoilers for Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and light spoilers for Episodes III: Revenge of the Sith and IV: A New Hope.

Believe it or not, I still own a VHS recorder. Yes, a proper player for video cassettes. I've been guarding it since I was a kid, because: Only on VHS can I still see the original trilogy of Star Wars as it should be. The attentive viewer may have noticed that there is a difference between the theatrical version (which can be seen on VHS) from 1983 and the DVD version from 2004.
